LCI Extension Awards
The Extension Award system was inaugurated by action of the
International Board of Directors in 1949 and redesigned in 1953.
At first there was only one award issued (*pictured below), but all Lions
designated as instrumental in the club’s organization were eligible to receive
it.
In 1956, additional awards were authorized to be presented in a series to Lions
credited with helping organize, two, three, four or five clubs. Involvement in
the organization of six to nine new clubs is duly recorded and the supreme
extension award is given to the Lion who assist in establishing ten new clubs as
documented in the
November 1970 Lions club magazine.

Current Extension Awards. |
The current Extension Awards and the Extension Award
Certificate are presented to two Lions, who, in
the opinion of the serving district governor, provided the greatest assistance
in the organization of a new Lions club. Lions nominated for an Extension Award
receive a medallion for each of the first five clubs chartered, and greater
awards for chartering 10, 15, 25, 25, 30, 40, 50, 75, 100 and 150 clubs.
Extension Awards will be presented after the club has been chartered for a year
and a day.
The Extension Award will be sent to the district governor for
presentation to the club organizer(s).
